The Surgery Kincumber opened its doors to the surrounding community in 1995, ready to provide health care for locals and their families.

We are an independent, accredited general practice interested in addressing and helping you with your health needs. The Surgery also offers mixed billing payment methods to assist our patients.

​

Different stages of life may present different health challenges and we endeavour to guide you through these, to results in your best health outcomes.

Dr Christopher Tarrant 

General Practitioner

Dr Tarrant was born and attended school in Grafton, on the North Coast of NSW. He completed his Medical Degree at the University of New South Wales in 1982. 
After completing extensive hospital training he then completed the diploma of Obstetrics in 1987 at St Margarets Hospital, Sydney. 
During this time he also enjoyed working in Country NSW doing General Practice placements, ultimately leading him to a career in General Practice and to the Central Coast in 1986. 

Dr Tarrant's General Practice career began at Umina Beach in 1987. He opened The Surgery Kincumber in 1995 and has watched it grow and expand over the years. He is an experienced GP and enjoys all aspects of General Practice work. Dr Tarrant has many long term patients caring for them and their families over many years.

Dr Tarrant has raised his family on the Central Coast and enjoys the many attributes that the coast has to offer.

General Practitioner

Growing up in Sydney Dr Stone spent much of his young years on the Central Coast. Upon finishing school, he followed his dream and studied Medicine at Sydney University, completing his senior years at Royal North Shore Hospital. 

On finishing university, he took the opportunity to return to the Central Coast to work at Gosford Hospital for six years, gaining experience in a wide variety of specialty areas. 

He undertook further training in Obstetrics and gained his Diploma in Obstetrics during this time.

After deciding to specialise in General Practice Dr Stone undertook further training and gained his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practice in 1991.

Taking up a partnership at The Surgery in 1997 he enjoys looking after patients through all stages of their life and particularly enjoys caring for several generations of the one family. 

He has found the Central Coast a great place to raise his family of four children and has enjoyed becoming part of the local community.

Dr Nicholas Poate

General Practitioner

Medicine is in Dr Poate's genes. Both his father and grandfather were doctors. 
Dr Poate graduated from the University of NSW in 1986. He did his internship. at Gosford Hospital in 1987, He quickly discovered the wonderful beaches and bush walks of the Central Coast, and he has lived and worked on the Coast ever since. 

Dr Poate joined The Surgery Kincumber in 1995. Some of his patients have been coming to the practice for 26 years. His youngest patient is usually a newborn baby and his oldest is 98. 

Dr Nick is a dedicated and compassionate practitioner, and always has your best interest at heart. 







 

Dr Nicholas Poate

Dr Jay Chelladurai

General Practitioner

Dr Jay Chelladurai completed his general medicine training in India in 2000. After working in India for 2 years and in the UK for 3 years, he moved to Australia in 2006. He initially worked in Emergency Medicine in various places, including Gosford Hospital. He moved to the Central Coast in 2009 and has settled here since. He completed his General Practice training in Inverell through the Armidale network in 2015, and since then, he has worked in various practices on the Central Coast.

With his wide variety of training including Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, and Rural Remote Medicine, he has become an all-round General Practitioner with a depth of exposure and knowledge in all aspects of General Practice. 

Dr Jay joined The Surgery, Kincumber in Nov 2023. He has also worked at the Central Coast Skin Cancer Clinic, East Gosford, since October 2015.

He has a special interest in managing patients with complex long-term conditions such as Diabetes, Hypertension, and Heart Disease, as well as minor emergencies such as wounds, cuts, and minor fractures.

Areas of Focus: Children’s Health: Minor illness, Injuries, Vaccinations 

Young Adults: anxiety, depression, Vaccinations 

​

Women’s Health: General Women’s issues such as anaemia, contraception, Implanon insertion as well as removal, Pre-pregnancy and pregnancy management, Medical Termination of pregnancy 

​

Older Adults: Diabetes, Hypertension, Heart Disease, Cancers, Osteoporosis 

​

Dr Jay’s motto is “I like to help people live their lives away from health practitioners, investigations, and medications. One’s world should not be dictated by their health conditions and taken over by the health system."

Helen Summersby

Registered Nurse

Helen has been a Coastie since 1985 after re-locating from The Shire and taking a position at Gosford Hospital. She moved into General Practice family friendly working hours, and that's where she has stayed ever since. 

Helen is a dedicated, long standing member of our Practice family, having been with us since 1996. Over the years, Helen has adapted to accomodate the evolving needs of our practice while assessing, planning and implementing nursing care. 

Helen enjoys developing relationships with patients, seeing families grow up and extend. She's now vaccinating the babies of those she vaccinated in the early days. 

Her interests include vaccinations, wound care and health promotion. Helen aims to live an active healthy life, wanting this for herself and her patients.

Deb Borgman

Registered Nurse

Deb has been nursing for many years and joined our team 3 years ago. 
Deb enjoys working in general practice and the many aspects of the ever-changing needs and skills that are required. Deb's interests include health promotion, vaccinations, wound care and getting to know patients.

We are very fortunate to have a Registrar available to current patients. These doctors each spend between 6-12 months with us. The outgoing doctor hands over to the incoming doctor to ensure continuity of care.
